an attempt at literary pretension
Jun. 7th, 2010 07:39 pmI finished the Stephen King zombie apocalypse book at around 2am today. By the time I realised it probably wasn't suitable bedtime reading, the book had just started to get good. Heh.
Picked up a copy of The Grave Tattoo by Val McDermid this afternoon. The author's been recommended to me by an acquaintance, so hopefully it'll be a good read.
Still on my shelf waiting to be read are: Anansi Boys (by Neil Gaiman), an extended edition of Stephen King's The Stand, the sixth Potter book, and a bunch of Iain (M.) Banks and Kathy Reichs tomes. Probably there are more, but I can't tell without getting up from the sofa... and I don't really feel like getting up at the moment.
Still not feeling motivated to read the rest of the Kathy Reichs books at the moment, though, partly because the first one just wasn't fantastic, technically. I know this will improve as the series goes on and the author settles into the writing style etc., but still... Not enthused. Not at the moment, anyway.
