So I survived work. Not sure how, though.

Spent the weekend catching up on tv things.

Spoilers. Opinions. Etc. )

I still need to catch up with Hawaii Five-0, Castle and Homeland, not to mention the films starting to pile up on my shelf. And the books. And my fic and vid projects. And now that work is calming down a leeeetle bit I want to start doing more in general. So we'll see!

Crawled home from work about twenty minutes ago. It's going to be like this all week, but there's a massive List that needs working through by next Monday.

But! This weekend I set myself up a blog for my original fiction and project type things. I've had several concurrently developing ideas in my head for some time now, and I decided it was time to maybe take them a bit more seriously and create a space where I can organise and plan things out a bit more coherently, and separately to my fannish identity. So that could be exciting.

I've also been rewatching the first season of Castle. I'd forgotten just how meta that show can be. Eventually I'll get around to a full on Primeval rewatch for vidding purposes, hopefully when work gets a bit less full on. Hopefully ;)

It's Thursday today, right? Just two more days until we get the second half of our farmhouse order finished at work (8 windows - 8 huuuuuuuuuge and in-need-of-insulation windows) and I can, I don't know, sleep. Remember how to formulate thoughts and words into coherent communications. That'd be awesome.

Still no writing mojo to speak of, but I've been bunnying myself lately. They're all completely ridiculous ideas, but they're ideas, so I'm calling that progress. Mostly I've been losing myself in reality tv and quick bursts of Monsters of Men between work sessions.

I just need to get this month out of the way then I can start to really focus on all the fannish things I've got queued up.

walkies!

It's been disgustingly sunny for the last few days, and today I decided to walk part of the way to my grandparents', about 3 miles.

I remembered my camera, but not a bottle of water... )

If the weather keeps up like this I might go trundling off more often at weekends.
thelibraniniquity: (Default)
Ugh. Today started at 6am, thanks to early sunrises and the gap at the bottom of my blinds. Realllllly must look for some fabric so I can make blinds that fit the windows (yay novelty!). I might try and reduce light

But but but. I have spent the evening with [livejournal.com profile] digitaljessie and not only have we partaken of the new Sherlock Holmes film (late to the party, but at least we made it!) but I have also introduced her to the enormously cracky Bruce Greenwood led The River and Once Upon A Time which has completely suckered me in.

I've also introduced her to the utter perfection that is this House/Sherlock/Fortysomething vid. Greg House as BBC Sherlock Holmes' dad. Watch iiiiiit.

Still not much to report on the fannish front. I wrote a few hundred words at the weekend, mostly so I could say that I've actually finished something this year. Several vidbunnies waiting in the wings, mostly older ideas that again, I'd like to say I finished, or at least had a proper go at. I should make a list. A manageable list, even. Yeah, that'll do it.

The single most bizarre advert I have seen, possibly ever:

Once upon a time... )

There's a tv show in there somewhere. At the very least, a deeply scathing and darkly comic satire film.

So, er, I'm on dreamwidth! I'm thelibraniniquity over there. So far all I've done is put together a fic masterlist (will get around to the vids etc at a later date) and I've no idea if I'm actually going to use it or not, but if anyone on here wants to add me on DW, go ahead and I'll try to figure out how to return the favour :)

So I think my writing mojo's well and truly gone. I haven't written anything properly in almost a month, aside from a few snippets - one of which I think actually survived the backspace button. I've been toying with ideas, but I haven't actually been... inspired.

I haven't been feeling much of anything lately. I think I know why that is, but figuring out how to deal with it is another job entirely.

What I have been doing is developing an original project, to the point that I've been directed to screenwriting software and I've even been looking up local screenwriting courses. It doesn't really exist except in my head and as brief summaries in .txt files but... I keep thinking this might be possible. I'd like to think it is.

And in other news, Spartacus is awesome, Unforgettable and The River are seriously growing on me and one day I will catch up with Hawaii Five-0. Just... maybe not today ;)

Spent the entire day today wandering around the city with mum, sister and sister's boyfriend, and a thoroughly grand time was had by all, even though it was bloody freezing! I didn't do too badly on the shopping front, though. I got a new pair of shoes, some CDs and all but pounced on the Hunger Games trilogy (thank you [livejournal.com profile] nomorefrostbite...). I also got a couple of notebooks that I'm actually willing to write in.

Fun fact: I have lots of pretty notebooks that have been given as presents over the years, but I have not written in a single one of them. They just sit on various shelves... looking pretty.

And I may have got a little over-excited at the stuffed dinosaurs in one of the toy shops. And the dinosaur shaped watering can in another shop. And a couple of History Channel boxsets that I might have to go back for when my to-watch pile goes down a little.

Telly stuff. )

I've also been tinkering with a couple of personal projects that I might post about later on. I'm going to be spending 9 hours on a coach on Tuesday, so hopefully I can put at least some of that time to good use, even if I can't get any proper fic writing done. And that's something else I need to be catching up on! Bah, why must life be so time-consuming?

snow day

Took a couple of photos because snow at my mum's automatically makes for better photos ;) Depending on how far the temperatures dip tonight there's a chance we won't be able to drive anywhere for a day or two.

Two almost completely gratuitous pictures... )

SPARTACUS. Nothing but flaily arms for that show right now. Fringe was equally epic :D

Also, what's up with the random intermittent Russian all over my LJ controls? Very bizarre.

Spartacus is back on tv a year after the prequel miniseries aired. Cut for possible spoilers. )

I've been keeping up with Hustle's swansong series on iPlayer and while the storytelling is as nifty as it's ever been - this is the show that taught me to expect twists and turns with every camera cut and spoken word - I can't help but want the finale... )

Real life's been distracting me lately. My cousin's funeral was on Thursday - technically he was my dad's cousin's husband, but family is family, and for an extended unit that can be safely described as a mini Catholic mafia we are very good at the solidarity for the big events, funerals, weddings and christenings alike. The amusing part came during the wake, where my mother - the only person that I know of to divorce out of the family - was fondly remembered by some of the cousins while my dad stood around like some lump.

Also, whoever keeps chirping on the radio and tv that "tax doesn't have to be taxing" is a lying liar who lies. I've got until Tuesday to complete this sodding self-assessment and it's a headache wrapped up in a distraction inside a pain in the behind that I really don't need right now.

Just watched 4.09 Enemy Of My Enemy

That. Was. AWESOME!!!!!!

I attempted to post the following at around midnight last night, but LJ was having none of it. Since the auto-restore draft thingummy saved it, here it is:

Finished work about an hour ago (oh, the joy of being self-employed? I think not!), and somehow I've sacrificed my day off tomorrow because it seemed like the right thing to do. I'm getting up at 8 to tag along on a fitting up in Croydon, after which I might get a chance to sleep in my own bed. I'm currently on mum's sofa, just about to kick the cat out so I can sleep without a giant furball migrating onto my face.

A voice in my head has spent most of the evening narrating a Hawaii Five-0/Fringe crossover. Weird but not totally unexpected. It is something I think I'd be able to pull off, however.

I do want to start vidding again, maybe ease myself back into it with short, simple vidlets and go from there. Five-0/Fringe crossover vid? Now that has possibilities...

--------------------------------------

I'm home now. Incredibly sleepy. And from le flist: Pick up the nearest book to you. Turn to page 45. The first sentence describes your sex life in 2012.

"Come south with me, and I'll teach you how to laugh again," the king promised.

O rly?

This year I have written approximately 78,500 words *dies*. Of those words, roughly 51,000 were for Hawaii Five-0 (a show I only started watching in April) and 27,500 for Primeval, some 10,000 of which were co-written with my favouritest partner in crime, [livejournal.com profile] explodedpen.

Outstanding WIPs: Many, mostly for the two aforementioned fandoms.

Unwritten Bunnies: Lost track somewhere around the gazillion mark.

New (Mostly To Me) Shows Discovered: Lots Hawaii Five-0; Suits; Community; NCIS: Los Angeles; Warehouse 13; Kings; Glee; Once Upon A Time; Homeland; Rizzoli and Isles. There's probably more.

New Year's Resolutions? Write more. Also, vid.

Anything Else: Happy New Year, y'all!

Just finished another afternoon of "let's squeeze one more little old lady onto the work board before Christmas, eh?", and OW MY BACK.

I've finally broken through my writer's block, though with the week ahead looking like it does it'll be fun and games trying to keep that up! Just have to keep reminding myself, I've got a week off after Christmas. I can sleeeeeeeeeep after Christmas.

That said, I've found a shiny new distraction. I'm finally watching Glee. And it's kind of fun. I've also watched the Warehouse 13 pilot, and that was kind of fun as well. Still on the Pilot List that I can remember are Kings, Falling Skies and Grimm. And a couple of British shows as well, I think. Bedlam, maybe Death In Paradise.

My wee Christmas tree's finally up as well (I'm undecided on lights this year), and everything's bought and wrapped with loads of time to spare, for a change. Yay!

I've managed to combine insomnia and intensely bad stomach cramps with the beginnings of a nasty cold. Not nice! I'm hopped up on various meds which will hopefully stave off the worst of things :(

On the bright side, I've finally started my Christmas shopping. Also, LJ's been majorly squiffy lately, but I have got a Christmas card post up if anyone else would like a cheerfully secular (or secularly cheerful?) offering.

And for my next trick: exchangefic! I need to stop confusing myself with timelines and characters. Either that or learn to meditate.

1. Think of up to 20 ships you support.
2. List them using descriptions of the characters involved rather than their names.
3. Have your f-list guess as many of the ships as they can.
4. Fandom hints will be given if asked in the comments.

Starter hint? 9 of these are from tv shows, 2 from books, and 1 from a movie. Other hints bolded.

(If anyone can identify #4, where have you been all my life? :D)
