Expelliarmus!!
Apr. 7th, 2007 07:40 pmMore Doctor Who, baby.
Mostly one sentence ramblings here, I'm afraid, made while I was watching ;)
-- Am I the only one here seeing parallels to the Dickens episode from the first 'new' season. "The Unquiet Dead", something like that? Hmm.
-- Look, Martha's a fangirl at heart (well, who wouldn't be faced with the Bard up on stage??).
-- "Sir Doctor of TARDIS"... *snigger*
-- Martha/Shakespeare has officially joined Nine/Dickens as one of the all timecrack oddball series pairings. Although she got the sonnet at the end... gag lol.
-- Witchcraft...it's a hinky premise but it comes with the Doctor's assurance it's not actual magic. This therefore works with other sci fi based theories that all magic is simply technology that cannot be explained (yet). These 3 'witches' are simply blending in with their surroundings/era. Also, with the explanation of eternal banishment later on in the episode, I'm leaning more towards their physical appearances as camouflage. Anyone else got any thoughts on this??
-- Hehe, with that apparent scientific reference to "Back to the Future", it's now clear that Rodney McKay would not get on with the Doctor ("Oh, do not even get me started on that movie!"). All the more reason for some sort of crossover, dontcha think? ;)
I'm also inclined to agree with
tinnny here, who said in her post that Martha was romantically attracted to the Doctor in some way. The scene on the bed in the inn, she was definitely waiting/looking(/even hoping?) for something there while Ten was thinking out loud.
Overall, I think this was a much better episode than those damned BBC promos made it out to be. I hate those promos. I hate them with a vengeance because they are on ALL THE DAMNED TIME, and sure, this show's currently the only decent thing on a Saturday night, what with all the musical-reality crap on both freaking sides, but still. Come on.
Too many promos spoiled the viewership.
