This merits a post, methinks.
May. 18th, 2009 10:19 amMy laptop is still away being fixed, so the last few days have been an interesting switcheroo between snagging Other Sister's laptop (which I'm using at the moment), and using the Mother's beast of a computer up in the attic to check emails and keep track of things happening in the world. So I have sort of been around, but just lurking heavily.
But anyway. Basically, it's been a bit of a crazy weekend. We finished out show week down at theatre with no major hiccups, unless you count the most people un-friendly person insisting on doing the raffle during the finale. Seriously, she's awful. Swears in front of audience members, all but yells at them while they're picking out tickets and/or their prizes, and... just ugh. UGH.
Rewinding a little to Friday, I had a conversation with the Mother and Granny about my Future Prospects, which resulted in an agreement that if I could find a small and/or cheap enough flat in the local area, it could be paid for using inheritance monies until I got myself in a financial position to support myself properly. So I duly went googling yesterday, just to see what was out there.
I found a cottage. A cottage.
It's a tiny little thing, pretty much one/two rooms on each floor, but spread over three floors, and it's one of the most affordable properties currently available to rent. I e-mailed the estate agent yesterday, and am currently waiting on a reply from them as to more details and possibly even an appointment to have a look around inside.
And I still can't quite wrap my head around the idea that it's a house, not a flat. It all seems so much more horribly grown-up than a flat.
...And Other Sister's emerged from upstairs, so I better give her her computer back! Ack, I miss my laptop...!

Date: 2009-05-18 09:07 pm (UTC)That is so epic. So so epic. I'm moving out soon, and flathunting with my friends Aly and Damian, and trying to convince them to get this place by Putney Bridge with a roof terrance and BBQ area (http://www.gumtree.com/london/1/37958801.html). It looks so cute!! Slightly over my budget, but fuck it, ROOF TERRACE. I've always wanted a Roof Terrace.
Roof Terrace's are almost as cool as Cottages.

Date: 2009-05-18 09:26 pm (UTC)I actually have an appointment to go and see it tomorrow afternoon, and I'm cautiously reserving judgement until I get to poke the insides very firmly with a tape measure, for although I have relatively little furniture (for now), what I do have is very chunky and generously proportioned.
Your roof terrace does look very cool. The kitchen looks good as well, which is always promising. Biggest selling point of anything for me is the bathroom though. I want a proper shower, which I'm told the cottage has!
