A Cupboard You Will Never Use
Oct. 9th, 2008 03:21 pmFinally finished filling out the application form - and bonus grammar test - for the TEFL course. Now just have to wait until Sister gets home so I can use her scanner to upload the handwritten section of the form before I can email everything off. Am cautiously optimistic that I will be able to get on the November course, though of course that depends entirely on whether there are enough places left (there should be!) and how the interview goes, which will be arranged when the college folks have reviewed the application.
In less nerve-frying news, I'm going to Southampton on Saturday to visit
t_eyla, and
explodedpen if she can make it, for the purposes of belated birthday squeeing and general fun stuff. And by fun stuff I mean the new episodes of various shows that I'm going to snag from
t_eyla in return for two seasons of Northern Exposure that I will download for her when I finally make it up to Leeds. I've asked if I can take my grandparents' 250gb portable hard drive with me, as it will be a lot easier and safer to transport than my external hard drive, which is bulkier and has more cables.
When the Granny asked if me borrowing the hard drive would make any difference to them using the computer, Ichannelled Charlie Eppes came up with the following analogy: "Think of the computer as a spare bedroom, and the external hard drive is a cupboard in that room. It's pretty cool having the cupboard there incase you need it for storage, but if you take it out of the room you can still use the room as a bedroom when people need it."
This seemed to appease the Granny, and when I related the analogy to the Mother, she said, "Yeah, okay, I can see that. And you should have added that it's a cupboard she will never use."
I've got a little over a day before Southampton, and assuming I get the TEFL application sent off this evening, I've decided that I will wallow in fannish things tomorrow before the potential serious business hits the ground running next week. And by wallowing I'm pretty sure I mean I'm going to have a go at making the G/B video that's been bugging me for a few weeks. There's always the Bashir character study, but the G/B bunny's way more fun ;)
Also. Criminal Minds. Finally seen the season 4 premiere Mayhem. HOLY CRAP OMG.
That is all.
