Student loans update
Apr. 29th, 2008 03:06 pmPreviously in the Student Loans Saga: a technical oversight in applying for a loan almost got
tli kicked out of university, after she'd already spent six months digging ever deeper into her overdraft.
This week: after trying for almost two weeks to get through to a human being at the Student Finance place, I finally succeeded this morning, and was eventually told that in order to get the £1400-odd that I'm still owed, I have to prove that I didn't get that money in September and January, like their computer system claims I did.
Mum's already been to the bank today, and is posting up printed bank statements which should demonstrate this fact. All I have to do once they arrive is forward them off to the Student Finance place complete with covering letter, and they will pay me the money I'm entitled to but haven't yet received.
In short: Yay money.
In other news: all that stands between me and the conclusion of my degree is a two hour examination on Political Parties Of The Extreme Right first thing on Thursday morning. This is freaking scary. As in borderline terrifying. Three years of university, and it's so very nearly over. The good news is that this is followed by
drakcir and a slew of Stargate DVDs coming to spend a long weekend with me in the Bubble from Friday.
We now return you to your regularly scheduled procrastinating.

lol, tell me about it. And it was 7 years of Uni for me... (German uni takes that long) I have about 3 weeks left for the final thesis, once this has been handed in I'll be free. As in 'one last free summer before joining the workforce'. *wibbles*
Do you know yet what you will/want to do?

Date: 2008-04-29 03:08 pm (UTC)Tell me about it! I want to try putting off getting a job until the end of the summer, just so I can guarantee having the time to visit

I haven't a clue! Long term-wise, at least. For now I'll settle for a regular, normal job, and just see where I am in six months or a year. Mum's agreed to me moving back in with her until I can ge myself into the position of finding my own place, so that's one worry off my shoulders already. I've been toying with the idea of either going into a postgraduate teaching scheme, either History or French/German, if I pick either of those languages back up again, or a postgrad librarianship scheme type thing. I just don't know yet :)
Any ideas what you'll be doing after uni?

Date: 2008-04-29 03:26 pm (UTC)It's always good to have at least a place to live. Most of my stuff will go back to my mum's place too, since I'll be moving to Britain and can't take everything with me. I'll be doing the "postgraduate teaching scheme" (SCITT) in Plymouth for Spanish/German. That lasts a year and then I'll have to see.
Library work sounds interesting too.

Date: 2008-04-29 03:33 pm (UTC)we can have a fangirly meeting
YES. T'eyla's already said that you're both possibly planning some kind of trip to England before uni starts, and I extended an invitation for the two of you to crash at mine for a couple of nights for fangirling and such :)
However it works out though, it's going to be great ;)

Date: 2008-04-29 03:02 pm (UTC)Don't forget, there will also be Dead Like Me DVDs, and maybe The Covenant, just because it wants to be watched again, and I don't have the time to right now.
Weren't there some other ones that you wanted??
And are we still planning on boycotting SGA, coz 2 of the 3 important men in my life have recorded them onto disc for me...

Date: 2008-04-29 03:11 pm (UTC)I hadn't forgotten about DLM! Have you managed to get CD sleeves yet?? I think SG-1 and DLM were it, though, although I'll happily give The Covenant a try, as I'm pretty sure I've not seen it.
And are we still planning on boycotting SGA
I'm still boycotting it, yes :)
