1. Elim Garak
Three words: Former Cardassian spy. Right from the moment we first saw him flirting with Bashir like he wanted to do him in the Replimat in front of everyone having the first of many lunches with DS9's chief medical officer, Garak's been an enigma wrapped up in a mystery surrounded by something else altogether. Multi-faceted, a constant walking contradiction, and had more sexual chemistry having lunch with Bashir than... I can't think of a comparative right now. More chemistry than ANYONE ELSE EVER, that's for sure!

5. Hrothbert "Bob" of Bainbridge
He's a cranky horny ghost doomed to spend eternity in a skull. What's not to love? The one time I tried writing him, he turned out sarcastic, voyeuristic, and protective of his master/friend. I also preferred the TV version of him to the book version, mostly because in the books Bob was just a talking skull. Bob the ghost inside the skull is a much more fun concept to play/mess with.

7. Doctor Meredith Rodney McKay, PhD
He's awesome. And as one recent fanfic described him, "so uncomfortable in any body John had no difficulty imagining McKay as being someone who would be delighted living out their life as a brain in a jar". He's incredibly fun to write, occasionally difficult to watch, and I only wish the writers would actually introduce the character development they keep hinting at in all of these episodes, rather than continuing to write him as an almost complete asshole. Or something.
