blast from the past
Jan. 19th, 2010 08:45 pmBecause naturally, the only response to finally finishing the prologue thing to my Primeval fic was to scroll through my fanfiction.net page and my old website instead of, you know, keeping going with the damn thing.
Nostalgia got me by the throat. Around four and a half years ago I co-wrote this Trip/Malcolm Enterprise fic with
sita_z and just rereading the authors' notes I can remember what a blast the two of us had - we managed to write more than 20,000 words together in the space of a week, and although back then The Mother wasn't too keen on my fanfic-writing hobby, she did admit just after
sita_z went home that it had kept us sort of quiet and mostly out of mischief while we were in the house.
That same week that Sita was at mine we also made two music videos together (both Enterprise), and quite possibly watched some Enterprise episodes that I hadn't caught up with yet. All told, it was a pretty epic week - and the some of most fun I think I've ever had doing something fannish.
And on the ancient website I've not updated in forever I found all my old music videos, the ones made in Movie Maker. I'm pretty sure I've got copies of them all on the desktop computer (yay for backups!), and with some of the Stargate ones especially I'm very tempted to just go back and watch through them again. It's the same sort of stuff I still make now - mostly gen with the odd pairing here or there. I've noticed I didn't discriminate, just went with whatever took my fancy at the time, which still sounds about right now.
I think I miss collaborating with people - co-writing with people like
sita_z and
explodedpen was a lot of fun even when the writing was less than easy. Might have to try and persuade either or both of them to do something else collaborative once various schedules clear up. Try and recreate some of that old magic!
In other news, The Great DVDRe Watch is continuing. I've finished series 3 of Primeval (mostly meh, may post about that a bit later once I've sorted out my opinions on it), and I'm now onto the Merlin boxset. Fun times.
