Blergh

I'm currently hiding in the spare bedroom at the Grandparents', hoping to avoid the various extended family members milling around the rest of the house. 'Tis the golden anniversary shindig, only it's not much of a shindig and I don't really know most of the people here (aside from the fact that they're all somehow related to me, except for someone's boyfriend).

Ended up in a corner of the dining room for maybe ten or fifteen minutes talking about David Tennant leaving Doctor Who with two people who I've been reliably informed are my second cousins twice removed. I might even have a vague idea of precisely how they are related to me, but only because Dad pulled me to one side to give my a quick genealogy lesson in front of a photograph of the Granddad's side of the family.

It's all needlessly complicated stuff, not helped by the fact that everyone knows me, and insists on reminding me of everyone else's names by way of pointing at the backs of heads. And none of it changes the fact that I don't really do people, and I don't really like these sorts of family gatherings, for the above reasons, but it's something I have to put in an appearance to, because they're my grandparents and it's only rarely the entire extended family is gathered together under a minimum of roofs anyway.
